From Arkansas State University

Led by four players finishing the Lady Red Wolf Classic's first two rounds Monday among the top 11 leaders, the Arkansas State women's golf team recorded a combined 587 to complete the opening day of its home tournament at Sage Meadows Country Club in second place among eight teams.

The Red Wolves turned in their best scores of the young season, posting a 298 and 289 for the first and second rounds, respectively. Eight of ASU's nine players, including four competing as individuals, either posted their lowest score of the season or matched it.

Central Arkansas, which had three players record a 3-under par 69 during the second round, leads the tournament with a 575. Western Kentucky is in third place, trailing A-State by 40 strokes.

A-State was led by freshman standout Abi Laker, who is in third place with a combined 142 and only one stroke behind UCA's Julia Roth and Malin Sennyard. Laker carded a 73 in the early round before coming back to post a 69 in the afternoon, which tied the lowest single-round score of the day among all players.

Jennifer Loiacano was in second place after the first round with a 71, but added three strokes onto that total in the second to drop four places in the standings. However, she is just four strokes behind the leaders and will also enter the tournament's final round in contention for the championship.

Courtney Manning is only one place behind Loiacano after recording a combined 149, which included a season-low 74 to for the first 18 holes.  Manning followed her first-round performance up with a 75.

Anna Carling carded a first-round 80 that put her in a tie for 23rd place, but shot a season-best 71 in the second round to climb all the way to 11th place. She finished the day with a combined 151.

Also finishing the day among the top 25 leaders was Endsley Evans, who is tied for 21st place with a 157. Competing as individuals for A-State, Libby Croom, Alyssa Goodin and Clara Tefteller are all tied for 31st place with a 161 and Anna Flanrey is tied for 42nd with a 171.
