
From Harding University
East Central University placed three runners in the top four and all seven
competitors finished inside the top 15 as the Tigers repeated as Great American
Conference Men's Cross Country Champions on Saturday at the Pontotoc Technology
Center in Ada.
Southern Arkansas' Mickey Hammer emerged as the
individual champion, fending off ECU's Cale Eidson to win with a time of
25:39.2. Hammer also garnered the league's Runner of the Year honor. The Tigers'
Eidson, Arturo Nava and Austin Christian claimed the next three spots. Nava won
the Freshman of the Year accolade.
Harding took
second by placing three in the top 10. Lajor Farkas led the way for the Bisons
as he placed fifth. Matthew Cumpian (eighth) and
Logan Green (ninth) turned in
top-10 finishes for Harding.
Hammer's
showing helped the Muleriders place third. Arkansas-Monticello finished
fourth.
The runners
from Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State competed in the meet, but
ran as unattached individuals. Two Crimson Storm runners did finish inside the
top 10 as Andrew Leahey took sixth and Victor Others placed seventh.
