Harding Men's Cross Country places second at GAC meet

From Harding University

East Central University placed three runners in the top four and all seven competitors finished inside the top 15 as the Tigers repeated as Great American Conference Men's Cross Country Champions on Saturday at the Pontotoc Technology Center in Ada.

Southern Arkansas' Mickey Hammer emerged as the individual champion, fending off ECU's Cale Eidson to win with a time of 25:39.2. Hammer also garnered the league's Runner of the Year honor. The Tigers' Eidson, Arturo Nava and Austin Christian claimed the next three spots. Nava won the Freshman of the Year accolade.

Harding took second by placing three in the top 10. Lajor Farkas led the way for the Bisons as he placed fifth. Matthew Cumpian (eighth) and Logan Green (ninth) turned in top-10 finishes for Harding.

Hammer's showing helped the Muleriders place third. Arkansas-Monticello finished fourth.

The runners from Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State competed in the meet, but ran as unattached individuals. Two Crimson Storm runners did finish inside the top 10 as Andrew Leahey took sixth and Victor Others placed seventh.
