BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Sunday morning domestic altercation ends with one person being shot in the face in Baxter County.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

When they arrived, they found James M. Barnes Jr., 27, with a gunshot wound to his face.  He was transported to the Baxter Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a Springfield hospital.

Deputies learned that Barnes and his brother, Jared Barnes, had been drinking and began arguing.  Witnesses say that argument turned physical and Jared Barnes kept telling his brother, James, to leave his property.

They say Jared locked himself in the truck, but soon exited with a .45 caliber handgun.  According to Sheriff's Department, they fought over the gun and it was fired several times, one of which struck James Barnes in the face.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.  At this time, no charges have been filed.
