A late night crash in Greene County results in the death of a Pemiscot County woman. Two children were also injured.
CASH, AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State Police say one person is dead and two others injured in a three car accident Tuesday afternoon on Highway 226 near Cash.
According to Arkansas State Police, 57-year-old Janie Jungers of Newport was killed after a semi swerved to miss a turning pickup and hit a car she was riding in head on.
The driver of the semi Steven Thorpe was uninjured in the accident.
ASP says around 1 p.m., a pickup truck was attempting to turn left onto Craighead County Road 237 when a semi truck going west on Highway 226 failed to see the turning truck, swerved to avoid the pickup truck and hit the oncoming car head on.
According to ASP, Jungers was in the passenger seat of the car. The driver, 52-year-old Timothy Rucker of Newport, was transported by ambulance to St. Bernards. Lue Wyatt, 79, of Newport was in the backseat and was airlifted to the Med in Memphis.
The driver of the pickup truck and semi were not injured in the accident.
