Police remind residents of sex offender checks for the holiday

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT)- The Poplar Bluff Police Department is conducting its annual Halloween Sex Offender Compliance Check today.

According to the Poplar Bluff PD, the purpose of the reminder is to confirm registration information on compliant offenders. There are also Halloween related restrictions for certain sex offenders:

Sex offenders convicted after August 28, 2008 are required to avoid all Halloween related contact with kids, remain in their homes between 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and they must have a sign outside their homes that says "No candy or treats at this residence." All residential lights must also be turned off during the evening hours.
