The Auburn Tigers put the finishing touches on their game plan for Homecoming during an 80-minute practice Thursday at the Auburn Athletics Complex Practice Fields.
The Tigers play host to New Mexico State at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday, hosting the Aggies on Homecoming. That game, with an 11:30 a.m. CT kickoff, will be televised by CSS. The all-time series between Auburn and New Mexico State shows the Tigers with a 2-0 advantage. The two teams first met in Auburn in 1993, a 55-14 Auburn victory. The most recent meeting between the teams was in 2007, also at Jordan-Hare Stadium, when Auburn posted a 55-20 victory over the Aggies.
"New Mexico State has improved as the year has gone on, and our players know where we're at in terms of the urgency to win. We've got to go out there and play well; we've got to get a win," said Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. "It's going to be a good challenge for us and we're looking forward to it."
Saturday's game marks the 99th observance of Homecoming at Auburn and the 86th homecoming game for the Tigers, with the Homecoming Queen being crowned at the game. The five finalists for 2012 are: Blanche Alverson (Biomedical Science major; Andalusia, Ala.; and a four-year starter on Auburn's women's basketball team); Kathryn Crowley (Building Science; Shaker Heights, Ohio); Anna Davidson (Radio, Television, and Film; Hoover, Ala.); Mallory Gilliland (Hotel and Restaurant Management; Concordia, Kansas); and Becca Goad (Pre-Optometry/Biomedical Science; Clarksville, Tenn.).
Single-game tickets for the Homecoming game are still available. For more information or questions regarding tickets, contact the ticket office by email at tickets@auburn.edu or by phone at 855-AUB-2010.
