DYER COUNTY, TN (WMC-TV) – Dyer County investigators say the investigation into the murder of Dyer County mom Karen Swift is getting close to being complete. Sheriff Jeff Box said even though it has been a year since Swift was murdered, investigators are moving toward an arrest or indictment.
They plan to go to Nashville next week to pick up evidence the TBI just finished processing. Box says there are no witnesses to Swift's murder so investigators have to rely on evidence.
As the investigation is winding down nerves appear to be frayed among her loved ones and friends.
Posts on the Justice for Karen Swift website show Swift's son Preston upset over what he says is not being invited to a memorial for his mother in Pocahontas, Arkansas where Karen Swift grew up.
Preston Swift wrote, "it is really bad when the family do not even get an invite to this so called memorial. If certain people really cared about my mom they would respect the wishes of her family! No media no politics! Just a day of mourning! Love you mom!"
It is not clear what prompted that from Swift's son, but as time goes with no arrests it is clearly a very stressful time for the family.
Investigators have not named anyone as a suspect in the case, and it is not clear when an arrest or indictment might happen.
