Former Memphis Tiger basketball player and government official joins extremist group

(WMC-TV) -Three days before Otis Jackson refused to be sworn in at his Official Misconduct hearing, he filed this with the Register's office describing himself as "Personam Soujourn and one of the people of Posterity."

The document has the exact wording as the "Freedom Documents" by the self-proclaimed "President" of the Sovereign Citizens group.

Jackson was about to get diversion for coercing his former employees to help him campaign for reelection.

But now, he's declaring publicly that he does not acknowledge government.

University of Memphis Civil Liberties Law Professor Steve Mulroy calls the action inexplicable.

"I'm very surprised to find this out.  The sovereign immunity movement is sort of associated with fringe, extreme, right-wing, anti-government."
