INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT)- A police pursuit ends with a shoplifter facing several charges.
On Tuesday, the Independence County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a local business in regards to a shoplifter.
Suspect Christopher Chandler, 32, did leave the business' parking lot before officers arrived, which started a chase. Officers with the sheriff's office along with Arkansas State Police chased Chandler after learning he was a wanted felon.
At some point during the chase, Chandler rammed into a State Trooper's vehicle. It did damage the vehicle, but did not injure the officer.
The chase ended when Chandler struck a guard rail. When he exited the vehicle, Chandler tried to resist arrest, but officers placed him in custody by force.
Chandler is currently in the Independence County Jail for felony fleeing, aggravated assault, and criminal mischief. Officers also served Chandler with warrants from various jurisdictions.
Three more employees of the truck stop chain owned by the Cleveland Browns' owner and Tennessee's governor have pleaded guilty in what authorities call a scheme to cheat trucking firms out of rebates.
