ASU Bowling enters last day of Crusader Classic as top seed

The Arkansas State women's bowling team went 4-1 on the second day of the Crusader Classic at Inman's Bowling and Recreation hosted by Valparaiso University.

A-State recorded a victory against No. 17 Prairie View A&M 1102-930 to start off the day.  The Red Wolves then beat Cheyney University 938-678 and Elmhurst College 1101-926 before facing off against No. 5 Nebraska.  ASU was able to defeat the Cornhuskers 1106-1053 in their fourth match of the day.  In the last match of the day, No. 6 Central Missouri was able to get the win against the Red Wolves 1062-934 to give ASU an overall record of 8-2.

Despite falling to Central Missouri again, A-State maintained its total pinfall lead with 10,347.  Central Missouri follows with 10,286.  Nebraska is the third seed with 10,152, while Wisconsin-Whitewater broke the 10,000 pin mark with 10,046 to go into the tournament portion as the fourth seed.

"We keep putting ourselves in positions to win tournaments," ASU head coach Justin Kostick said.  "If we keep bowling the way we are right now, hopefully we'll win this tournament tomorrow."

Arkansas State also had two individuals named to the all-tournament team.  Sophomore Sarah Lokker bowled an 1100 on the day with a 220 average and Junior Ashley Rucker bowled a 1085 on the day with a 217 average to earn the all-tournament honors.

ASU will take on Central Missouri in their quest for a championship Sunday as play gets underway at 8 a.m.
