ASU Volleyball's Kearney, Baska named All-Sun Belt Conference

Arkansas State's Allison Kearney and Megan Baska were named to the All-Sun Belt Conference volleyball team the league office announced Wednesday night at its annual Championship banquet.

Kearney, a senior, earned first team honors after guiding the Red Wolves to a third-place finish in the SBC West Division and the No. 5 seed in the SBC tournament. Kearney ranks fourth on the school's all-time career assists with 3,252 and collected 1,000 assists in a season for the third time in her career.

She finished the regular season with a career day against ULM by setting highs with 10 kills and 25 digs. She also added 36 assists in the match for her first career triple-double. She ranks second in the conference with a 10.93 assists per set average, which also ranks 41st in the nation. In conference matches she ranks fourth with 10.96 assists per set while also ranking ninth in digs with a 3.34 per set average.

Baska garnered second-team honors after leading A-State in digs for the third straight season. The junior standout moved into third place on ASU's all-time digs list with 1,536 for her career and had over 400 digs in a season for the third time in her career. She became the Sun Belt Conference's all-time leader in Defensive Player of the Week awards with her 10th on Oct. 22.

She ranks fifth in the conference with 4.33 digs per set and ranks second with 4.29 digs per set in conference matches. She also helped anchor a back line for ASU that ranks second in the league with 15.60 digs per set.

The A-State volleyball squad is to compere in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament this week, taking Arkansas-Little Rock Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. The championship match will be available nationally on ESPN3.
