From Harding University
Harding sophomore Ewa Zaborowska became the first
Lady Bison in five seasons to earn All-America honors in cross country when she
placed 18th at the NCAA II National Championship Meet on
Zaborowska, a native of Wejherowo, Poland, completed the 6K course in 21 minutes, 4.8 seconds, the second-fastest time ever by a Harding runner in the NCAA national meet. Janee Jones, who was Harding's last All-America honoree in 2007, holds the school record of 20:36.0 in Pensacola, Fla., in 2006.
Zaborowska was in 23rd place at the 3K mark, but moved up five places in the second half of the race. Her 18th-place finish was Harding's highest since Jones placed 16 in 2007.
Alicia Nelson, a senior from Adams State, won the race in 20:03.3. Grand Valley State won the team championship by three points over Augustana (S.D.).
Zaborowska qualified for the national meet by placing sixth at the Central Region Meet two weeks ago. She finished that race in 21:22.3 on the same course.
