HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police will increase their patrols to keep an eye on you and deter crime over the holidays.

Police say criminals see vulnerable shoppers as a target.

Shoppers are urged to be aware of criminals lurking, waiting to steal your packages.

Officers will also be on the lookout for criminals who try to steal from businesses.

"Our officers are out there. We know that we are into the heavy holiday shopping season. We want them to have a safe experience out there shopping and buying for their loved ones and officers want to facilitate that by being very visible at these high retail areas," said Dr. Harry Hobbs with Huntsville Police.

Police say if you see someone who appears suspicious or if you see someone shoplifting, notify the store manager.
