After "Black Friday" shoppers hit "Small Business Saturday"

JONESBORO,AR (KAIT) – It was Small Business Saturday and local stores like Carol Carroll's Variety Store had unique items ready to wrap and placed under the tree.

When it comes to finding one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts, well Carroll's got it.

"It's a variety store I feature Arkansas products if which I have quite a few and all my canvas art, jewelry crafts and quilts are made by local people," said Carroll.

Her mission was to have a little store where gifts are personal and stays true to the natural state.

"People are learning that I have things the big box store don't have. I go out of my way not to I have unusual and unique things and as many Arkansas products as I can get. Many of them come in here because they want to buy Arkansas products."

Her motive is to help her town of Pocahontas one jam in a jar at a time.

"The money stays here in Pocahontas. The money I take in, I spend in Pocahontas."

Even with her eye sight almost completely gone, Carroll says much of her being there is with help from the Arkansas Services for the Blind.

"I have lost almost all my vision and I have devices they've given me and taught me to use."
