MTSU linebacker improving after injury

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Middle Tennessee officials say the condition of junior linebacker Craig Allen is improving following an injury in the Blue Raiders' win over Troy.

Allen suffered the injury in the fourth quarter on Saturday when he tackled Troy running back Shawn Southward in the 24-21 victory.

Head football trainer Craig Allen didn't specify, but he said Sunday that Allen's condition improved overnight and that doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center will continue to treat him with medication and re-evaluate his injury throughout the day.

Allen, out of Carrollton, Ga., leads the Blue Raiders with a career-best 82 tackles this season.
