MARKED TREE, AR (KAIT) – It has been nearly two weeks since Region 8 News reported on the heating problem at Marked Tree High School.  Now school officials are confident the issue will be fixed this week.

According to Superintendent Annesa Thompson, the school has experienced a setback during the repairs to one of the older buildings.

Thompson tells Region 8 News the issue lies with replacing pipelines inside one of the buildings after another leak was found.  She says all of the outside pipes to that building have been replaced.

Administrators say two-thirds of the campus has heat restored including the cafeteria area.  They say the temperature in most parts of the school is at a "comfortable" temperature.

Thompson is hopeful the heating system will be fully restored by the end of this week, barring anymore unforeseen complications with the project.

The project of replacing the pipelines started nearly a month ago after someone reported smelling natural gas behind the school auditorium.
