Beatles rockin' in Walnut Ridge for Christmas

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) – Christmas is just around the corner, and people in Walnut Ridge kicked off the Christmas season with the Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree event in downtown Walnut Ridge Saturday afternoon.

The first of a series of events scheduled inDecember began at 4 p.m. with musician Lauren Richmond performing at Beatles Park, and the opportunity to enter an iPad mini giveaway sponsored by First National Bank.

Gretchen Hunt, one of the event organizers, said organizers wanted to keep the momentum going that started during the Beatles at The Ridge events in September.

"Several people said it would be really nice to do something around the holidays just to keep the excitement going, keep people in town shopping locally, eating locally, coming to different events," she said. "We did some brainstorming and had several community members get together and start working on this, and came up with the idea of doing Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

"We're just trying to keep people thinking about doing things in their community, and anything we can do to make this a better place."

The next events will take place on Dec. 8 and 15.
