Mike Hampton named new pitching coach for Arkansas Travelers

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former Boston Red Sox bench and first-base coach Tim Bogar will be the Arkansas Travelers' manager for the coming season.

The Travs also announced Tuesday that former major league all-star Mike Hampton will serve as pitching coach.

Bogar spent three years with the Red Sox. Hampton retired after the 2011 season and the assignment with the Travelers will be his first coaching endeavor.

Bogar has minor league managing experience with the Cleveland and Houston organizations.

Hampton compiled a 148-155 record and a 4.06 ERA over 16 major league seasons with seven clubs. He was second in Cy Young Award voting in 1999, when he won 22 games for the Houston Astros.

The Travs are the Class AA affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
