The Williams Baptist College Eagles beat the Patriots from Morthland College 99-83.
Williams Baptist College improved to 7-3 on the season with a home victory over Morthland College. The Eagles won the game 99-83 on Tuesday night at the Southerland-Mabee Center.
A big reason why the Eagles came out on top was senior leadership. The seniors combined to score 85 of the 99 points for Williams, which totals 86 percent of the scoring. They were led by All-American Kyle Harvey who scored 32, Zabian Sanders with 21, and Maurice Templeton with18. Other seniors adding to the scoring were Chase Norwood and Phillip Sykes, with seven apiece.
The team collected 56 total rebounds on the night, with 24 coming on the offensive end. Harvey led the team with 11, followed by Sanders with 10. Sophomore Donovan Coleman collected 10 rebounds, while scoring eight points.
Williams never trailed in the contest and held the lead from the first bucket. The largest lead came with 15 minutes remaining in the first half, when it reached 20.
The team shot 44 percent from the field for the game, while holding Morthland to 36 percent. WBC swiped 13 steals from the Patriots, forcing 23 turnovers in the rout.
The Eagles will jump back on the court on Saturday, December 8, when they host Blue Mountain College at Walnut Ridge. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
