Man arrested after hitting another man with 2x4 and hammer

RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Walnut Ridge man is behind bars after witnesses say he knocked out a man with a hammer.

On Tuesday, Randolph County Sheriff's Deputies were called out 3100 Swinney Road. When they arrived they found Brad Loar with bleeding from his head.

He said he stopped Christopher Shipley from attacking a woman.  Loar says Shipley got a 2x4 and then hit him in the arm.

Other witnesses say Shipley got "real mad and started fighting." They say he started tearing doors off and then he hitting Loar with a hammer.

According to Deputy Allen Webb, when he arrived, Shipley ran away.  He found Shipley with the aid of his K9.  He was arrested once deputies found him.

Christopher J. Shipley faces several charges:

  • Felony Battery Charges
  • Misdemeanor Domestic Assault
  • Misdemeanor Battery
  • Endangering the welfare of a  minor
  • Criminal mischief
  • Fleeing on foot.

His bond was set at $15,000.
