CLARKSDALE, MS - Visitors can take a trip through the 20 most influential years in blues music history starting Friday in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
That's when the Delta Blues Museum opens the major traveling exhibit, "Sweet Home Chicago: Big City Blues 1946 to 1966."
The exhibition features more than 200 artifacts and brings to life the story of the blues as it left its ancestral home in the South to spawn a musical revolution in Chicago.
Before coming to Clarksdale, the exhibition spent five months at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago and four months at the Seattle-based Experience Music Project museum.
Hugely popular in Chicago, the exhibit has Clarksdale museum officials expecting big crowds in the "Birthplace of the Blues."
Delta Blues Museum Director Shelley Ritter expects at least 10,000 visitors to view the show during its stay in Clarksdale.
