JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A memorial fund has been created for an 11-year-old girl who died after she became trapped beneath a pipe in a water-filled ditch for 20 minutes.
Kyria Seymour of Jonesboro died Saturday, April 19, at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. A memorial fund has been created for an 11-year-old girl who died after she became trapped beneath a pipe in a water-filled ditch for 20 minutes.

BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT)- One little girl in Region 8 is going to Disney World later this month, thanks to the generous donations collected by the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Ilan Essary from Brookland has gone through countless rounds of chemotherapy and taken a number of steroids, all in her battle against leukemia.

Mary Lee Thomas is Ilan's grandmother, and considers her an inspiration. Thomas says, "you can't let them know how fearful you are, and then I have to overcome that fear. There's been many prayers, many scary moments, but she's been tough."

Ilan told her story to the Make-a-Wish Foundation; her wish was to go to Disney World with her entire family for Christmas. Ilan thought she was just on a class assignment from her Valley View school Friday, but she had no idea a group of students, and Make-a-Wish, had a surprise for her.

Ilan says, "It means to me that it makes me feel that I'm special and that I'm loved."

The best news, she says, is that her cancer is in remission and she hopes to help others later in her life.
