TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

The Tyler Police Department is investigating the attempted theft of an ATM and the theft of a restaurant catering van in Tyler.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 2:00 a.m. Surveillance video from Texas Bank and Trust, located at 2323 W. Grande, was reviewed by bank officials. They observed six hooded people using a stolen 2004 Ford Van trying to remove TB&T's ATM from its pedestal with a chain.

According to bank officials, the chain broke as the suspects attempted to pull the ATM from the concrete, at which time the suspects fled the area. The activity triggered an ATM alarm and police responded to the location.

The suspects used a 2004 Ford Van that was reported stolen from Dickey's BBQ, located at 1501 W.S.W. Loop 323. The van was found south of Tyler this morning.

"We did locate the truck ... down about a mile south of the incident from the ATM and we're going to process that and see if we can get any evidence from it," said Tyler Police Officer Don Martin.

If you have any information about the suspects involved in this crime, you are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).  Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
