JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Interim Parks Director for Jonesboro is promoted to be the official Director of Parks and Recreation.
Wixson Huffstetler, who has been the Interim Parks Director for the past 18 months, will take office on January 1. Huffstetler says, "I look forward to being able to continue to lead this department and continue to grow and expand services. The Jonesboro Parks Department has many exciting things in the works and I am honored to be a part of this great team." Huffstetler previously served under Jeff Owens as the Assistant to the Parks Director.
Huffstetler graduated with honors from Arkansas State University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business Management.
Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin says, "Wixson has done an incredible job over the past 18 months and I am completely confident that the Parks Department will continue to grow and serve Jonesboro citizens under his direction."
The Assistant Parks Director position, previously held by Huffstetler, has been filled by another inter-departmental promotion. Danny Kapales has been promoted from his previous role of Youth Sports Coordinator. Kapales will oversee the youth sports programs by supervising the two recently added youth sports coordinator positions.
