Jonesboro advances to Poplar Bluff Showdown title game

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (SEMOBall.com) - The Hurricane were golden from 3-point range early Friday night as Jonesboro (Ark.) advanced to the championship game of the 26th annual Poplar Bluff Showdown by beating the defending champions.

Marquise Pointer hit four first-quarter 3s as Jonesboro connected on 6-of-9 shots behind the arc to build a double-digit lead in a 71-41 win over Booker T. Washington of Memphis.

The Golden Hurricane (10-2) will face two-time Showdown champions Liberty Tech (7-3) in the championship game at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Tech beat the host Mules 59-55 in the other semifinal Friday night.
