JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) — The Arkansas State Department of Athletics is inviting the community to come together Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 7:30 p.m. to help "send off" the Sun Belt Conference champion Red Wolves' football team as it leaves for the GoDaddy.com Bowl.
All fans are encouraged to line Stadium Boulevard, create signs, wear A-State apparel and honk their horns to send off the Red Wolves as they head to Mobile, Ala., to take on Kent State in the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl. The Red Wolves will depart from Liberty Bank Stadium at 7:30 p.m. and travel down Stadium Boulevard and onto Highway 63.
The Red Wolves are expected to arrive at their team hotel, the Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel, at approximately 12:30 a..m. Wednesday morning, the same day they take part in the GoDaddy.com Bowl's 7 p.m. Team Welcome reception at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
"Our fan support has been tremendous all year and vital to the team's success," said Gleen Hart, ASU Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions. "We want to send the team off to Mobile with a lot of momentum, and we encourage fans to come out and show their support as they leave for the GoDaddy.com Bowl."
The team will continue its on-field preparations at UMS-Wright High School in Mobile, while also taking part in a number of bowl-game functions such as visiting the University of South Alabama's Children's and Women's Hospital and "Team Nigh" at the Mobile Civic Center Theatre on Thursday. The Red Wolves will also take part in a "Team Lucheon" on the USS Alabama on Saturday and attend portions of the Mardi Gras Parade, which will feature the ASU band and cheerleaders, that evening.
