MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was found dead in a trunk near the airport.  Police say he was killed with a gunshot to the head.

There are "no parking or standing" signs along Goodhaven Street in Memphis.  But neighbors say a sedan was parked there for at least three days before the man's body was found Wednesday evening.

Action News 5 learned the body was found inside the trunk of the 2001 Mazda Millennium.

"That's not good," said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.

She said the car initially had its hazard lights on, but there was no indication of what was inside the trunk.

"I know people hear a lot about South Memphis," she said. "But this is a very quiet street."

"A lot of people usually stop and watch the airplanes," said neighbor Linda Turks. "So, I didn't think much of it just sitting there."

Neighbors said Memphis and airport police may need to step up their patrols.
