SHARP COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Police have released the name of the Sharp County shooting victim after capturing a man who was on the run after they say he shot and killed the victim.
According to the Sharp County Sheriff's Department, police have captured Christopher A. Bryant of Salem, Arkansas, in connection to the shooting that left Severin Simpson dead.
Police tell Region 8 News Bryant was captured without incident after a brief manhunt Saturday afternoon in the Ash Flat and Calico Rock areas.
Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts states officers responded to a motor vehicle accident reported just after 4:30am on Saturday near Highway 63 in Ash Flat. The sheriff says when officers arrived they found Simpson dead in the driver's seat from a gunshot wound to the head.
Simpson's body has been sent to the state crime lab for autopsy.
Christopher Bryant is currently in the Sharp County Jail on a charge of first degree murder.
Bryant appeared in court on Monday. A judge set his bond at $500,000 dollars. He's set to appear in the Sharp County Circuit Court on January 16.
