Formal sexual assault charges filed against student teacher

PARAGOULD,AR (KAIT) – A student teacher in the Greene County Tech School System has beenformally charged with sexual assault in the first degree. 

According to court documents,24-year-old Alan K. Williams was formally charged with sexual assault in thefirst degree with a 14-year-old girl. 

In the document it saysWilliams engaged in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity with a minor,and was in a position of trust or authority over the victim, and used theposition to engage in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity.

The alleged contact happenedbetween November 1, 2012, through January 3, 2013. 

Williams had a bond of $250,000set, which he has paid and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Ina news release to Region 8 News Greene County Tech's Superintendent, JerryNoble said,

"As anintern, he was not one of GCT's employees and we were not made aware of anyproblem until after he had completed his internship at Greene County Tech.However, anyone who works in our school must follow the law and all appropriatestandards. Interns are informed upon being assigned to GCT that they must abideby the code of ethics and standard of conduct required of all teachers and thissituation has been reported to the Arkansas Department of Education as a codeof ethics violation"

Williamsis no longer with the GCT school system.
