PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – A student teacher in the Greene County Tech School System has been formally charged with sexual assault in the first degree.

According to court documents, 24-year-old Alan K. Williams was formally charged with sexual assault in the first degree with a 14-year-old girl.

In the document it says Williams engaged in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity with a minor, and was in a position of trust or authority over the victim, and used the position to engage in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity.

The alleged contact happened between November 1, 2012, through January 3, 2013.

Williams had a bond of $250,000 set, which he has paid and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

In a news release to Region 8 News Greene County Tech's Superintendent, Jerry Noble said,

"As an intern, he was not one of GCT's employees and we were not made aware of any problem until after he had completed his internship at Greene County Tech. However, anyone who works in our school must follow the law and all appropriate standards. Interns are informed upon being assigned to GCT that they must abide by the code of ethics and standard of conduct required of all teachers and this situation has been reported to the Arkansas Department of Education as a code of ethics violation"

Williams is no longer with the GCT school system.
