From Williams Baptist College

The Eagles from Williams Baptist College improved to 1-1 in American Midwest Conference play with an important road victory over Lyon College.   In a game that saw the lead change 12 times, WBC pulled away in the second half for the 78-67 win.

A back and forth first half saw the Scots enter halftime with a one point advantage over the Eagles, but Williams would outscore Lyon by 12 in the second half to earn the 11 point victory.

WBC's harassing defense held Lyon to 33 percent shooting from the field, and a mere 29 percent from 3-point range.  They also forced 17 turnovers from the Scots and out-rebounded Lyon 41-36.  While Williams' defense held the Scots, the offense shot 45 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc.

Kyle Harvey earned his sixth double-double of the year and his second straight one in an AMC contest by posting 17 points and 11 rebounds.   Chase Norwood scored 21 points with seven rebounds, while Maurice Templeton scored 13 points and added nine rebounds for the Eagles.

The win stretches WBC's record to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in the AMC.  They will step out of conference play and travel to St. Louis, Mo., to play against Concordia Seminary on Thursday, January 10.

Following that game, they will return to AMC play as they host Park University on Saturday, January 12.  The game will be played at the Southerland-Mabee Center in Walnut Ridge at 4 p.m.
