GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – An asphalt company that filed a claim against the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department has received some money in the claim.
Documents from the Arkansas State Claims Commission state the two sides agreed to a settlement of $112,500 on January 10.
Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, Inc. and a subcontractor were claiming the AHTD should pay them $228,661.24, for what they state was a breach of contract.
According to the claim acquired from the commission, Delta Asphalt filed the claim along with subcontractor Cameron Construction Company.
Documents state on March 5, 2007 Delta Asphalt entered into a contract with the AHTD to widen just over four miles of Highway 18, west of Blytheville. The project was to widen the highway from two lanes to five. Cameron Construction did the earthwork on the project.
Delta Asphalt stated the work was completed on the project, but AHTD never paid them.
