Cowboys hire Monte Kiffin to fill defensive coordinator opening

ESPN is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have hired Monte Kiffin as their new defensive coordinator.

Kiffin, who will turn 73 in February, was the defensive coordinator for his son, Lane, at USC and Tennessee for the last four years. He has 26 years of experience as an NFL assistant coach, including 13 years with Tampa Bay.

The Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan on Tuesday.
