The weekend was thoroughly wonderful and exhausting! The
house is still being painted (low VOC, Latex paint--so we're safe) but we had
company coming so Friday I scrambled like a madwoman to get the house in some
sort of order. Thankfully, the company included my sister and two of our
closest friends. I knew they could look past a little crazy in the house.
The crew came to visit for the showers held this weekend. One
was hosted by some of my dearest friends in Jonesboro, and the other in my
hometown of Caruthersville hosted by a group of women you want on your side
should the world collapse. I think they'd have the chaos under control, and
MREs served on a platter with garnishes made from twigs. I love those women so,
so much!
Both celebrations were beautiful and joyous. It's hard not
to have a good time with my girlfriends here in Jonesboro, and my dear friends
from home. You are always welcomed with a smile, hug, and some of the best food
to cross your lips.
My mother-in-law, sister-in-law and one of their close
family friends also came north for the weekend. I know they were charmed and
made to feel welcome by all the women they met this weekend. I am so happy that
all of the special people to us in Jonesboro and Caruthersville went that extra
step to make the special people from my husband's family feel included.
I realized how blessed we are, and how much support we have.
I teared up a few times, but managed to blink back the tears. I'm not a crier!
Oh! Today marks 5 weeks to go.
