Governor, Crittenden Officials to Break Ground on Hino Plant Thursday

JULY 19, 2004 - Posted at 2:01 p.m. CDT

MARION, AR - Governor Mike Huckabee will be in Crittenden County Thursday morning to participate in groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Hino Motors manufacturing facility to be built near Marion.

Huckabee will be joined at the event by Hino chairman Tadaaki Jagawa and Hino Manufacturing USA Inc. president Kimio Watanabe.  Also attending the ceremony will be Hideaki Otaka, the president of Toyota Motor North America Inc., and Atsushi Nimi, the president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America.

In May, Hino officials announced plans to build a plant on the 160-acre site.  Workers will produce differential, rear axle and suspension-related parts for Toyota vehicles.  Hino has held the top position in the Japanese market for medium-duty and heavy-duty diesel trucks for thirty years.  Construction on the site will begin immediately.

Hino operates other U.S. facilities in Ontario, California; Corona, California; and Orangeburg, New York.
