Randeep Mann resentencing hearing set for March

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A resentencing hearing has been set for an Arkansas doctor who was convicted in a 2009 bombing that nearly killed the head of the Arkansas Medical Board.

Mann was sentenced to life in prison but will be resentenced on one count on March 11 because he convinced a federal appeals panel that he shouldn't have been subject to a sentence enhancement.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last month affirmed Mann's conviction on a weapon of mass destruction count but ordered that 1 of Mann's two machine gun convictions be tossed out.

The appeals court found that shouldn't have received a sentencing enhancement based on allegations that he ordered the assault of an inmate, which the judges said was not raised during his trial.
