NC WEATHER: Heat, humidity return, stays through Labor Day

90s and humidity returned to central North Carolina Thursday and those conditions will stick around through the holiday weekend.

For the first time in six days and only the fifth time this month, the high was above 90 in Triangle Thursday.  The Triangle made it up to 92 while Fayetteville made it up to 95.  Both temperatures were above the normal high of 87 and will stay above it through the holiday weekend.

Overnight won't be as cool and comfortable like they were earlier in the week.  There is a small chance of rain early with partly cloudy skies and a morning low down to 68.

A stationary front will hanging around the northern part of central North Carolina on Friday, and with it will be a very small chance of a shower or storm.  Otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high around 89.  South of the Triangle it will be back in the lower 90s again.

The front that will divide our temperatures on Friday will move north on Saturday and highs will be more uniform right around 90 degrees.  Skies on Saturday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.  Sunday, we will have just a slight risk of a PM shower or storm, otherwise it will be partly sunny with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.  Labor Day will have some clouds with a couple showers or storms possible.  Highs on Monday will be once again right around 90.

Tuesday will be partly sunny with a chance of a shower or storm.  Temperatures will stay above normal with a high again around 90.  Wednesday will be partly sunny with a slight risk of a shower or storm and highs in the upper 80s

Hurricane Cristobal continues to move away from the east coast.  The hurricane continues to move northeast and was more than 800 miles away from North Carolina Thursday.  Rip currents and higher than normal surf will start to decrease along the North Carolina coast Friday.
