Wet weather in NC for Easter weekend

Soggy weather is expected for the beginning of the weekend in central North Carolina and some of that rain will linger into Easter Sunday.

Friday was a day off for many, but it was filled with clouds and highs in the 60s.  The Triangle made it up to 63 while Fayetteville made it up to 66.  The normal high for this time of year is 73.

Late Friday, rain from a low pressure storm system along the Gulf Coast will move in and bring wet weather to all of central North Carolina most of the day Saturday, including early Saturday morning.  Temperatures will start off Saturday in the mid 40s.

That low pressure system will move up the southeast Atlantic coast Saturday and keep our skies cloudy with rain likely.  With the rain cooled air, highs will only be in the mid to upper 50s with breezy conditions.

The low will move very slowly out to sea late Saturday night and will keep mostly cloudy skies over central North Carolina into Easter Sunday.  Easter will be a little warmer with a high of 66 and a slight chance of rain in the morning.  Some sun could filter in during the day, mainly north and west of the Triangle.  Even though there will be clouds, sunrise will be 6:36 on Easter for any sunrise services and temperatures will be in the upper 40s.

Easter Monday will be mostly sunny with highs finally reaching the lower 70s.  A cold front could give us a couple of showers by Tuesday afternoon with a mixture of clouds and some sun.  Highs on Tuesday will be 75.  Behind the front, skies will clear and highs will be in the lower to middle 70s, which is right where we normally are for this time of year.
