JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The next test for the Arkansas State men's basketball team will be on the road. John Brady and the Red Wolves head to Troy to face off with the Trojans in a Sun Belt battle on Thursday night.
ASU is sitting on a 11-7 record with a 5-4 mark in the Sun Belt on the season. That mark has them in second place in the Sun Belt West Division right behind UALR by a full game. They will be pitted against a Troy team that posts 7-12 overall record with a 2-6 mark on the Sun Belt Conference slate for 2012-2013 and sitting in Cellar of the East Division. Tip-off for the matchup will be at 7:30 p.m. in Trojan Arena.
The Red Wolves are coming off a big 63-39 home win against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night that saw a run-away style victory for Brady's team. Arkansas State could even their record for the month of January to .500 with a victory after a strong start gave way to 2 straight losses to before righting the ship over the weekend.
The Trojans are in the midst of a two game losing skid and hope to win their first game in nearly two weeks. The Trojans are coached by one of the longest tenured coaches in the NCAA, Don Maestri, who has been with the school for 30 complete seasons.
This road game is sandwiched between homestands that will see four straight games in the Convocation Center follwing Thursday night's battle.
