Paragould To See Big Improvements to Parks and Recreation Facilities

Posted July 20, 2004 @ 6:00 p.m.

PARAGOULD -- Paragould residents put their money where their mouth was and now they're seeing their investments come alive.

Paragould City officials came out to break ground on a new Aquatics Center Tuesday. This new center will feature four swimming pools. Two of the four pools will be indoors with a retractable roof. Of the two indoor pools one will be for swimming competitions and the other will be for therapy. The two outdoor pools will be for lap swims and diving.

The indoor part of the Aquatic Center is scheduled to open next January. The outdoor section will be completed by next summer. Other improvements to Paragoulds parks include the addition of a skate park, eleven soccer fields, and two adult softball fields; all of which are already completed. Once the new community center opens it will have two basketball courts, two racquet ball courts, an indoor track and an aerobic room.
