JHS Alum Cook Scholar Athlete of the Year at Red-Tie Dinner

FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro High School Alum received a big honor at the University of Arkansas on Saturday at the Red Tie Dinner in Rogers.

Razorback Men's Golf senior and former Jonesboro Golden Hurricane Austin Cook was named one of two scholar athlete award winners and was presented his award by Athletic Director Jeff Long on Saturday night.

Cook was the SEC 2011 Scholar Athlete of the Year and holds a career stroke average of 73.48, which puts him at 11th best in the history of the golf program at the school.

Each year, the Razorbacks recognize student-athletes whose performance throughout his or her career serves to lift up their sport to new heights and whose character exemplifies the goals of the athletic department.
In addition to the dinner, attendees will enjoy a social hour before dinner as well as live and silent auctions.
