MALDEN, MO (KAIT) – A weekend morning crash in Dunklin County causes the death of a 19-year-old and injures two others.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involving a pickup truck and a car happened Saturday just after 4:00a west of Malden. The crash report states the car driven by 19-year-old Racheal Dickens of Malden was headed west on Highway J until it was pulled over to the eastbound shoulder.
Troopers say the truck was headed east when the car pulled out in front of the truck and hit it head on. The car's passenger 19-year-old Brooke Koenig of Kennett died at a Kennett hospital.
Dickens was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck received moderate injuries.
All three people involved were not wearing seat belts, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
