Ark. jury convicts man in killing of 14-year-old

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Pulaski County jury has found a man guilty of second-degree murder for fatally running over a 14-year-old boy who stole his wallet at a Little Rock convenience store.

Prosecutors charged Michael Sadler with first-degree murder in the 2012 death of Michael Stanley Jr., and Sadler's defense lawyer asked jurors to find Sadler guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter, instead.

Investigators said Sadler chased the boy after the teenager stole Sadler's wallet containing nearly $1,300. Prosecutors told jurors that stealing the wallet was wrong but that Sadler committed a greater crime by acting as a vigilante.

A police officer arrived at the scene and found Sadler beating the boy when the youth was on the ground after being hit by the car.
