Clark, Former Clinton Cabinet Members, Rally Arkansas Delegation at DNC

JULY 26, 2004 - Posted at 3:44 p.m. CDT

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Retrired General Wesley Clark and two other Clinton cabinet appointees today said John Kerry can carry Arkansas.

Clark, Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater and former U.S. Labor Secretary Alexis Herman spoke to Arkansas delegates at the Democratic National Convention.

All said the state is in play for John Kerry in November and noted Arkansas' recent experience catapulting former Governor Bill Clinton to the presidency.

Clark said his wife Gert calls Arkansas the most nurturing environment in America.  Clark quoted his wife, saying Arkansans are proud but not arrogant and are open to ideas.

Slater said it's the delegates' job to teach Arkansans about John Kerry, the way the nation needed to get to know Bill Clinton.
