WBC Eagles fall to number one team

From Williams Baptist College

The Columbia Cougars are ranked number one in the NAIA according to the latest national poll, and the Eagles from Williams Baptist College were upset minded heading into the road contest. However, Columbia would stifle any hopes for an Eagle upset with an 89-53 victory.

The Cougars defense was strong, holding WBC to 26 percent shooting from the field. They held reigning American Midwest Conference player of the week Kyle Harvey to nine points. Chase Norwood also scored nine. Following them were Zabian Sanders and Donovan Coleman, who scored eight a piece. It was only the second game all season where Harvey did not reach double figures in scoring.

Columbia shot 49 percent from the floor, including 12-of-27 from 3-point range. Jordan Dressler led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. He also led the Cougars with seven rebounds.

The loss drops the Eagles record to 14-8 on the season and 5-4 in the AMC. They currently sit in a three way tie for third place. Williams will host Lyon College on Saturday, February 2. The game will be played in the Southerland-Mabee Center, and tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
