A spokesman for the Delek Refinery made this statement Tuesday about the death of an employee Monday night:
"Delek confirms that one of its employees passed away last night after suffering an unknown medical issue on the job site. Upon learning of the employee's medical issue, first responders were immediately called to the scene and transported him to the hospital. An internal investigation is underway, and Delek is working with proper authorities in this tragic situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleague's family at this difficult time."
The name of the employee is not known at this time. The spokesperson could not elaborate on what the medical issue was.
Delek added that they investigate any incident that occurs on-site to better understand what happened. They said their internal investigation is standard procedure.
