JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A drug ring leader has been sentence to 35 years after pleading guilty Tuesday.
According to United States Attorney's Office, Jorge Rojas-Olivera of Batesville was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment and 5 years supervised release.
Rojas-Olivera and 21 other men and women were charged in connection with "Operation Meilke Way".
The multi-agency investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration "targeted a large scale drug trafficking organization distributing multi-pound quantities of methamphetamine in central, north, and northeast Arkansas."
Meth was being smuggled into Arkansas from Mexico. A total of 13.3 pounds of meth, $163,590, 7 vehicles and 5 guns were seized as a result of the investigation.
