Posted: Updated:

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT/AP) – Four officers involved in a fatal shooting that killed an assault suspect were justified in their actions according to Prosecutor Henry Boyce.

The shooting on Feb. 7 killed 27-year-old Jonathan Tims.

According to Lt. Brant D. Tosh, ASP's Criminal Investigation Division received a request from the Pocahontas Police Department to investigate after the shooting.

According to Tosh, Pocahontas police were looking for Tims in connection with his involvement in a domestic assault involving a handgun. Officers were investigating a report of Tims threatening his girlfriend with the gun, according to ASP.

When officers found Tims, they tried to arrest him, that's when police say the shooting happened.

Tims was hit seven times and later pronounced dead at the scene.
