State Education Money Going Unused

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Three million dollars set aside by the state to help low-performing school districts with preschool programs is going unused.  Officials say many districts haven't applied for the money.  The Child Care and Early Childhood Education Division of the state Department of Human Services is trying to get the word out about the available funds.

The money is part of the Arkansas Better Chance for School Success program.  The program's funding increased from $13.4 million last year to $53.4 million this year, because of legislation approved in a special legislative session on education.
