JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn arrived at spring training about 40 pounds lighter than what he weighed at the end of last season.
The question now is whether he has locked up a spot in the starting rotation.
A year ago, Lynn replaced an injured Chris Carpenter and went 18-7 with a 3.78 ERA in his first full season in the big leagues. The problem was that his ERA ballooned to 6.66 in August and he was demoted to the bullpen.
Manager Mike Matheny wants Lynn to earn his starting spot. Lynn says it's his to lose.
