RECTOR, AR (KAIT) – The Rector Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a body shop in the city Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the call around 2:30 p.m. at Weaver's Transmissions located at 701 South Main Street across from the Rector Visitor Center.

"We received a call for a small explosion and fire," said firefighter Huston Bowden. "When we responded we had heavy smoke and flames out of the rear of the structure, the garage, venting through pretty much the entire structure so we went ahead and called for assistance."

Fire and rescue crews from Marmaduke, Greenway and Piggott fire and rescue crews assisted the Rector Fire Department.

No one was injured, but the building was heavily damaged.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
